Fertility Diet

There are a lot of women out there that are finding that it is difficult for them to get pregnant. Then there are some that are just starting to try, but that would like to make sure that they are giving themselves the best possible chance. For many women, turning to a fertility diet is one of the best things that they can think of in order to finally conceive. Even if you are able to conceive without any additional help, making use of something such as the fertility diet can only make things better for you.
One of the first things that you are going to try to do is to stop drinking all caffeine and alcohol. This is something that should ideally be done before you even begin trying to conceive. There are a lot of studies out there that show that women who drink alcohol and caffeine not only have a harder time becoming pregnant, but when they do, there could be irreversible harm done to the fetus.
When it comes to the foods that you are going to want to eat, you will want to do your best to concentrate on fruits and veggies that have the colors green, yellow and red. Think of salads, fresh green beans, watermelon, radishes, peppers, as well as many others. It has been shown that these fruits and veggies give the woman eating them a great deal of vitamins, minerals, micro-nutrients and antioxidants. The best to aim for would be that of at least 3 cups of fresh veggies and 2 cups of fresh fruit each day.
You are also going to want to think about allowing fish back into your diet. Many women have received tons of warnings about the dangers of eating fish while pregnant and while trying to become pregnant. While it is true that high levels of mercury can be toxic to the baby, there are a lot of omega-3 acids that are found in fish, and that are needed by you. So what about the mercury? The trick is to eat no more than up to 12 ounces of fish per week of fish that is low in mercury. Such options would include canned tuna, catfish, shrimp and salmon. for those that don’t like fish or simply are too scared to eat it, try flaxseeds.
And of course, you are going to have to make sure that you are getting plenty of iron in your system. Even though all of this might sound like a lot, when it comes to trying to get pregnant, the fertility diet is a great way to make sure that your body is in the best possible shape and condition in order to conceive. All in all, when it comes to any diet, a fertility diet is a diet that could do a lot of good for just about anyone, whether they are trying to conceive or not.
